Sammie & Kevin - Pretzel Bun Romance
With Lisa Hunter, Estes Park Wedding Officiant - at Black Canyon Inn, The Boulders
The Heart Of Sammie & Kevin’s Wedding Ceremony:
The Bliss Of A Good Challenge
When I think of Sammie & Kevin, I think of an image that they shared with me during their wedding passage journey - it’s the two of them on the side of a mountain after a particularly grueling hike, they’re crazy hungry and they’re blissing out on pastrami, cheese and pretzel bun sandwiches.
The moment is about that deep satisfaction that comes when resting or eating a meal after having accomplished something significant and challenging. Plus, those pretzel bun sandwiches were gooooood ;)
Sammie & Kevin live for these kinds of moments, not to mention the individual and relationship growth that comes from them. They wanted a simple, intimate ceremony that would express who they are, and the passion with which they live life. Join us below for their photo story with gorgeous photos from J. La Plante Photo, and to see the ceremony elements that we picked…
Meet The Couple
First let’s meet our couple while they’re getting ready. I love that both of them had time to connect with the mountains individually as they were preparing for their ceremony.
Setting The Scene
The Boulders at Black Canyon Inn set the scene for a stunning ceremony backdrop.
Sammie and Kevin had a traditional processional with bridesmaids, groomsmen and Sammie walking the aisle with her father.
Ceremony Highlights
These two chose truly simple elements for their ceremony - a reading, a bit of their story, I Do’s, personally-written vows, then rings. I love ceremonies that have unique and interesting elements, and I equally love this kind of ceremony - simple and classic.
The reading that they picked was by John Muir. It speaks passionately about the wild in all of us. I must have really been feeling it because I’m looking pretty blissed out while sharing it with our guests lol!
I had the joy of telling the pretzel bun story while highlighting what that moment meant to these two - their mutual love for challenging themselves with new experiences, plus learning and growing as a result.
It really anchored us into the core of Sammie and Kevin’s connection as we entered the heart of the ceremony.
Sammie and Kevin wrote their vows from scratch using my Vow Adventure Kit. There were already so many heart-touching tears from our guests, and by the time they were done there was not a dry eye in the house.
Keeping it simple, they exchanged rings, I pronounced them and…
Married!
Congratulations, Sammie & Kevin!
May you continue to have pretzel bun moments in all kinds of ways in the coming years. May you never let the “have-to’s” stop you from doing the “want-to’s”. May you create a home and start a family full of love. May you live with intention and purpose, remembering that life is about journey not destination. May you always come back to the passion that you share for challenging yourselves with new experiences, and celebrate the growth that results. So much love, Lisa
