The Heart Of Brenna & Humberto’s Wedding:

True Presence On A Rainy Spring Day

I don’t think I’ve ever worked with a couple who wanted it to rain on their wedding day. Brenna & Humberto were no different. But when I arrived for their ceremony, amidst a downpour and umbrellas everywhere, I found these two in the brightest of spirits.

It didn’t matter that Mother Nature wasn’t quite cooperating, our bride and groom were literally glowing in anticipation of the opportunity to marry one another.

Their ceremony was filled with this same glow. Our wedding passage journey together had been all about realizing dreams - everything that these two have created over the years, and how they spark in one another the inspiration to create more.

The other cool thing about this wedding - I officiated for Brenna’s mom Lori and her husband Craig a few years before! Come along for our photo story and to see all the ceremony elements that we chose for Brenna & Humberto’s beautiful, rainy, lovely day…

First let’s set the scene with photos of Brenna, Humberto, their fab crew and some of the meaningful things that they brought with them for their ceremony.

Vows were the center point for these two. They spent hours of quality time individually and together using my Vow Adventure Kit to speak to their love story and create a set of guiding principles for their marriage to come.

Brenna’s Grandpa Chuck passed the month before, and he was near and dear to her heart. Grandpa Chuck and Grammie Chick were married for 68 years. Their relationship is a powerful example of lifelong marriage for the entire family. In a meaningful gesture of remembrance and love, Brenna had one of Grandpa Chuck’s handkerchiefs sewn into the lining of her dress.

Ceremony Highlights

Brenna and Humberto chose a traditional processional. Humberto walked first, escorted by his mother and father. After that, bridesmaids and groomsmen. Then Brenna walked with her father.

Humberto’s parents read Sobran Las Palabras for us - his father read in Spanish and his mother read the English translation. A beautiful poem about the feeling of love that is more than can be expressed in words.

I shared about a sunrise drive through the desert, when Brenna & Humberto road tripped all the way from California to Arizona (and back again) to meet their new puppy and bring him home.

The story spoke to all that we discovered during Brenna & Humberto’s wedding passage about the core of their connection - the way that they inspire one another not only to dream big dreams, but to take action and make them happen.

Vows were incredible. These two were 100% present with one another as they shared the words that they had spent so much focus on writing with intention, heart and soul.

Brenna’s dad brought us the wine box to start a wine box tradition in their marriage to come. They will drink wine and re-read vows on every anniversary.

As a blessing on their ring exchange, Brenna’s mom shared a reading about the journey of marriage and how it happens in all of the little, seemingly-mundane (but oh so powerful) moments along the way.

Married!

Congratulations, Brenna & Humberto!

May you realize countless more dreams together in your years to come. May you purchase a home with a yard for Walker and enough room to host all of your visiting friends and family. May you build a family in this home with children and a couple more dogs and lots of love. May you continue to be intentional with your love for each other so that it feels willfully given and lovingly earned. So much love, Lisa.
