The Ultimate Rocky Mountain National Park Elopement
The Soul Of Jess & Zach’s Rocky Mountain National Park Elopement:
A Romantic Adventure Across Rocky Mountain National Park
Photos by partner company Colorado Photographer Squad.
Jess and Zach are the kind of couple that thrives on using their collective strengths to make dreams come true. This was no different for their wedding. They wanted something that focused on the two of them and their connection, while also in gorgeous nature and with the opportunity to celebrate with those closest to them.
The plan that we made for them: a mini elopement adventure across Rocky Mountain National Park starting with a romantic first look, then a simple intimate family ceremony at Sprague Lake. Next, a short drive to the heart of the park for a romp in a glaciated valley complete with champagne toast, an unbelievable sunset (seriously, it was like a movie) and some sweet time by the Big Thompson river.
Get to know some of the most beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park elopement spots in our photo story below, plus see the ceremony and adventure elements that Jess & Zach chose to make their elopement day incredibly special…
A Rocky Mountain First Look
Since lakes, meadows, peaks and rivers were already on the agenda, we planned a forest First Look because why not include every single kind of natural environment in the mix ;) We set Jess & Zach up in a beautiful stand of Ponderosa Pine trees for a first look on the way to their ceremony.
An Elopement Processional Down The “Aisle”
We gave Jess and her dad a nice amount of distance to walk partway around Sprague Lake while taking in the beauty and significance of the moment. This also gave their family a great view of them coming down the “aisle”. Plus the clouds, the light and the big open Colorado sky did not disappoint.
Elopement Ceremony Highlights
The heart of the day. Jess & Zach chose very simple elements for their ceremony. We started with a welcome for their family, letting them know that they were a very important and integral part of such an intimate experience.
Then we shared a reading that spoke to Jess & Zach’s connection - a steady, solid YES amidst life’s inevitable ups, downs and questions. These two truly sank into the moment and their love for each other, which really is what the day is about.
Next were vows, which Jess & Zach wrote from scratch using our Vow Adventure Kit. They made deeply moving promises to one another, and once vows were made, we did a wine box ceremony to kick off a tradition that Jess & Zach will drink wine and re-read their vows to one another on every wedding anniversary.
The ring exchange was full of joy and laughter. Then when I pronounced these two as married, there was a huge cheer from a group of hikers across the lake who heard me declare, “I now present to you, Mr. & Mrs…!” That sometimes happens when you elope in Rocky Mountain National Park ;)
Champagne Toast And Romantic Elopement Photos
A short 15-minute drive brought Jess & Zach to Moraine Park, a glaciated valley that is so immense and breathtaking, you can’t help but remember how small we are and how big nature is.
The sun was setting and wow oh wow, the light. The photos below speak for themselves.
These two soaked in the gorgeous sunset and the just-married bliss, then had a champagne toast straight out of their cool elopement backpack.
Just when you’d think the sunset couldn’t get any more dreamy, it does this!
More fun as the sun continued to set - next to the Big Thompson River!
Married!
Congratulations, Jess & Zach!
And this - a just-married in Rocky Mountain National Park getaway car. The perfect way to drive off into the next chapter. Enjoy the ride Jess & Zach, we love you!!
